Alisha Lehmann’s educational journey is more about a highly effective balancing act between school responsibilities and athletic ambition than it is about academic accolades. She grew up in the Swiss village of Tägertschi and went to the Feusi Bildungszentrum in Bern, which was excellent for young athletes who needed flexibility to balance training and school. Even though football took over her life at a very young age, this strategy was incredibly successful in providing her with the resources she needed to succeed.

Lehmann joined FC Konolfingen at the age of nine, spending afternoons on the training field while her classmates studied textbooks. She joined the BSC YB youth system at the age of twelve, training with the boys’ teams in sessions that were far more adaptable and demanding than anything her age group could have required. It was a kind of education that taught her adaptability, resilience, and competitiveness; it was more than just football practice.

Her instructors at Feusi recognized that she was headed in a different direction. She was able to fulfill her academic obligations while missing days of competition and national youth games thanks to the modifications they made. The impact of this supportive education, which some may overlook, was particularly evident because it provided her with a framework in which learning was reshaped rather than sacrificed. Although more educational institutions in Europe are now focusing on developing athletic talent, this type of environment has significantly improved in recent years. However, when Lehmann was a teenager, it was still a relatively uncommon model.
