A small group of people gathered around a mobile phone store’s glass counter on a muggy afternoon in Bashundhara City, leaning in as the salesperson took a brand-new phone out of its box. Fluorescent light caused the back to shimmer, turning from forest green to deep blue. “Dam koto?” was the first question that is always asked in Bangladesh. What is the amount?

At least for the Oppo A6s Pro model, the answer is ৳39,990. Suddenly, the topic of discussion turns from design to controversy.

In Bangladesh, the price of the Oppo A6S falls into a crowded mid-to-upper midrange market where Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme are continuously undercutting one another. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model costs almost forty thousand taka, so it’s not inexpensive. It’s also not ridiculous. Its deliberate placement—almost strategically—indicates that OPPO thinks Bangladeshi consumers are willing to pay a bit more for long battery life and perceived durability.

It seems like the new camera race is going to be about battery life. The Oppo A6s Pro comes with a 7000mAh battery that can be charged at 80W. Sales employees repeat that number—7000—as if it were a catchphrase. Battery anxiety is real in a nation where long commutes quickly deplete devices and load shedding still disrupts daily routines. It’s evident that OPPO is aware of this local concern as customers tap through the demo unit and inquire about its duration.

A different story is told by the anticipated Oppo A6S (non-Pro) variant, which is priced at about ৳22,000 for the 8GB+128GB configuration. That model seems more in line with the larger A-series tradition—it is reasonably priced, useful, and a little conservative. It has a large 6.75-inch display, a 50MP dual camera setup, and a Snapdragon 685 chipset. Not revolutionary. but trustworthy.

The way that OPPO has divided the story is intriguing. With its Auto Zoom selfie, high refresh AMOLED display, and daring marketing partnerships, the Pro version is heavily reliant on flash. Regular users upgrading from older Oppo A5 or A38 devices appear to be the target market for the standard A6s. The brand may be attempting to appeal to both aspirational young people and practical earners at the same time.

A retailer in New Market has quietly acknowledged that sales are being driven by installment plans. “The true feature is zero percent interest,” he jokingly said. Perhaps he is correct. The Oppo A6S Pro directly competes with devices such as the Redmi Note series and Realme’s midrange lineup at ৳39,990. However, many rivals are unaware of how strong OPPO’s retail presence is in Bangladesh. OPPO branding can be seen everywhere in Dhanmondi or Chittagong’s GEC circle, including bright green signage, well-groomed promoters, and clean display booths.

It’s difficult to overlook how much of a focus OPPO has placed on durability this year. IP69 resistance to dust and water. Shock claims of military quality. marketing for five-year battery durability. These talking points aren’t just for show. Because of Bangladesh’s climate, which includes dusty construction sites and intense monsoon rains, durability is more than just a catchphrase. Although it’s still unknown if regular users actually push those boundaries, the assurance is important.

The MediaTek Helio G100 processor in the Pro version doesn’t offer particularly impressive performance. Hardcore gamers may be put off, but it manages social media, streaming, and light gaming fairly well. However, the majority of buyers who are watching YouTube or scrolling through Facebook are unlikely to notice. The majority of smartphone buyers don’t pursue benchmark scores, which may be the silent truth. Stability is what they seek.

The camera conversation is another. For group photos at weddings, Eid celebrations, and university hangouts, the 50MP Ultra-Wide selfie camera with AI auto zoom feels like it was made for Bangladeshi social culture. Watching a group of students test the front camera while standing inside a Banani café and giggling at how it automatically zooms in to fit everyone in felt more like a social tool than a tech demonstration. That might be the best move made by OPPO.

But doubt persists. With prices close to forty thousand taka, buyers anticipate longevity. Updates to software are important. Resale value is important. Whether the Oppo A6S Pro will retain its value in the used market the way Samsung’s A-series does is still up in the air. The used phone market in Bangladesh is flourishing, and astute consumers are always planning ahead.

One gets the impression from watching this happen that OPPO is placing a bet on confidence. larger battery. a more vivid screen. louder speakers. It’s not nuanced. The Sajek Valley-inspired Forest Pattern finishes used in the design imply that the company seeks more than just technical approval.

Perhaps this explains why the Oppo A6S price in Bangladesh seems more like a positioning statement than a numerical value. The anticipated A6s variant of ৳22,000 is aimed at cautious consumers. Those who are prepared to make a small sacrifice for flash and endurance are the target market for the ৳39,990 Pro variant.
