    This approach mirrors a more general finding in AI research circles: while language models are quite good at word prediction, they have trouble grasping context that changes over time. A stand-up performance is a narrative journey that is gently directed, frequently dangerous, and intensely personal rather than a collection of gags. While humor thrives on disrupting patterns, machines are quite good at recognizing patterns.

Researchers hope to comprehend these dangers before such systems proliferate by conducting an open study of comedy.

    Cultural perspectives have clearly entered the discussion. Tina Fey has maintained that since humor relies on human struggle, machines cannot be humorous. Tim Minchin has reiterated this idea, pointing out that audiences react to visible choice, effort, and mistakes. These viewpoints warn scientists about the shortcomings of their systems, which enhances AI research rather than contradicting it.
